MANNING CARTELL MBFWA
Print mania normally implies some sort of chaotic mess. Luckily this collection from Manning Cartell, together with its restrictive colour palate, has ticked all the right boxes.
While you may be wary of having too much going on, these splashes of prints will have you looking on trend and able to mix and match with all your staples.
There is nothing I love more than seeing shorts and a fitted tee paired back with an oversized boxy jacket. The variation on lengths and silhouettes makes my heart tingle with excitement. Example: a demure pencil skirt with a midriff top (note: only a slither of skin showing) seems like so much more than an extra costume from Grease Lightning – this is sophisticated dressing at its best. The golden rule of showing skin up top, cover up down below (and vice versa) has worked wonders in perfect proportions throughout this collection.
I sense a mixed influence of Ellery/Christopher Esber/Dion Lee and Alexander Wang in this collection – the cuts and fabric choice seem almost familiar – don’t get me wrong, a familiarity that I certainly enjoy!
My favourite model: Rachel Rutt
My favourite outfit: Khaki leather cropped jacket with champagne gold silk shorts
My favourite standalone piece: The Alexander Wang inspired ‘holy’ jumper
